Weekly Photo Challenge : Half-light

Dark and light
striking
each other,
vividly etching wild colors
through the horizon.

The charm of sunset
makes me want
to scurry home.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Dance (1)

This is my second “Dance” entry to Weekly Photo Challenge: Dance.

It’s another shot from Indonesia, the photos I took weren’t good, the dancers hands fluttered too fast to catch and I wasn’t hugely focused on the subjects, dinner conversation and the addition of vino were probably the cause! I came home to find a lot of blurs…  Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Harmony

One of the definitions of Harmony is a “pleasing arrangement of parts”.

In the desert, the elements combine to create harmonious colours and patterns, sculpting the landscape into shapes which are pleasing to the eye.

Weekly Photo challenge: Life Imitates Art

My take on this week’s theme. In Siem Reap, a little pyjama clad girl resting in front of a random pair of wings made a perfect angel, the security guard, deep in thought…one of those chance moments in life where the picture was perfect… The modern day angel reminded me of Raphael’s cherubim putti angels of the Sistine Madonna.

Weekly Photo challenge : Optimistic #2

Optimistic-adjective
  1. disposed to take a favorable view of events or conditions and to expect the most favorable outcome.
  2. reflecting a favorable view of events and conditions and the expectation of a positive outcome; demonstrating
In distant areas of Oman, towns are small, huge distances between each and surrounded by thousands of kilometers of sand and gravel plains, with some dune desert areas. Sand is everywhere… in this region, it’s part of life. Flashing through one of these small towns yesterday on the way back to the big Dubai city, passing these workers, their task of sweeping the sand away seemed somewhat optimistic.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Alphabet

DSC_0515Someone lovingly crafted this quotation in 3 languages, using three different alphabets, on a cemetery wall at Trincomalee, Sri Lanka.

Look at the care taken with the lettering in all three transcriptions. It was a task of pride for the writer.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Weightless (Parachute)

DSC_2277

Caught over Dubai Marina, a 2 man parachute dropping in to the Marina airport. I imagine the feeling of thrill and terror when drifting down, seemingly weightless above all those towering buildings…. floating for a brief time above all the city action…. Not brave enough to do it myself !
