Weekly Photo Challenge: Graceful…

There is something special about being out in the desert amidst the graceful sweep of the dunes, the fluid patterns of the sand and the differing delineations as the light changes during the day.

Shot in the sand dunes of the UAE, on the edge of the Empty Quarter, close to the Saudi Border…

Earlier this year I was in Bristol, Uk, doing town with my daughter, who lives and works there and happened upon an exhibition of “Briswool” for Sit and Knit at the Mshed museum on Bristol docks.

I would highly recommend Mshed as a place to go if you ever happen to be in Bristol. It holds an excellent representation of Bristol’s social and working history with an eclectic collection of objects, photographs, paintings and of course, some Banksy history. Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Transmogrify…

This weeks challenge is to provide our view of transmogrify, which means, “to change in appearance or form, especially strangely or grotesquely; transform.”

The Burj Khalifa, Dubai is currently the tallest building in the world.

Another such structure is forecast in this city of extremes to go higher, but it’s still in the planning stage.

Burj Khalifa dominates the Dubai skyline and just on occasions when the atmosphere is clearer and the sun is the right position and you have your camera in the car and get lucky going over a bridge or at a traffic light ( I have to add here  “as a passenger “in case you are thinking I’m snapping as I’m driving) you can just catch this massive Eye of Dubai shining over the city… I haven’t seen Frodo or Gollum here yet, but nothing would surprise me !

Weekly Photo Challenge: H2O

When I think of water, my first thought is of the water in our oceans.

The oceans cover 71 percent of the Earth’s surface and contain 97 percent of the Earth’s water. Less than 1 percent of the Earth’s water is fresh water  and 2-3 percent is contained in glaciers and ice caps. The oceans contain 99 percent of the living space on the planet.
