Dibba is a port town on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates. This large natural harbor on the east coast of the northern Emirates has been an important site of maritime trade and settlement since the pre-Islamic era.
There is a border crossing to the Omani Governorate of Musandam , but it is for GCC residents only, non -GCC cross the border on the West coast. Interestingly Dibba is politically divided into three segments:
Dibba Al-Fujairah, ruled by the Emirate of Fujairah,
Dibba Al-Hisn, ruled by the Emirate of Sharjah,
Dibba Al-Baya, ruled by the Governorate of Musandam, Oman
One very hot day at the start of the summer, we drove over to Dibba for a bit of shell-collecting and research on this northernmost part of the UAE. I haven’t driven along the coastal border road before and found some very colourful doors in the old part of town.

Thanks Norm, I was really pleased to find these. They are fairly traditional “older” Arab doors. I was told of a village in the mountains that has splendid traditional doors, so hopefully I’ll get there soon !

Never touch a cone snail! I remember the poison is quite toxic. The doors are great, so different.
